In your zone you would need to grow elephant ears in a large pot since I
doubt it would survive your winter outside. Or, you could dig it up in the
Fall and keep it in a pot over the Winter. It likes shade and moisture. The
spot you described sounds fine for it. They really don't need any special
care. Here in Texas, they can take over an area in one season since they
are left outdoors all year.
