I would go the one of the orchid groups for my question but they have too
strong a head to answer (like, orchids are a gift from heaven!)
I have a dent. orchid which was blooming when I purchased it during the
winter. The larger leaves died off and new shoots have started to come our.
Most are from the base and seem to be part of the base root system. A few
shoots are coming out from the top of the stalk(?). These have roots
emerging.
Question: I assume that those with roots will eventually be able to be cut
of and placed in orchid media. How long a root length or how long a time
should I wait before cutting off ... or should I layer (gound layer?) the
plant?
From a person who has interest in plants which plants which produce roots
by adventitous formation, orchids are especially intereting for their
differences of propagation!
regards
Joel
