Heather, I think it depends on what you can afford and how much time you
have.
Greenhouses are not for people who travel a lot! I grow everything under
lights in the winter because it's all I have. My lights are stacked on a
stand and I can get 4 flats of seed trays on each shelf. Lights are automated
by a timer to 16, then 18 hours. The light stand has two fixtures/ shelf but
when the seed germinates I transplant seedlings into small pots and put them
under a long 3 bulb fluorescent fixture. Just about everything comes into
bloom under three lights, before the frost-free date. I water chiefly by
pouring an inch of warmish water into the holding trays, 1/4 strength
20-20--20 added, about once a week until growth really takes off. Hope this
helps, J.
