gerbera daisy seed

I am planting some freshly harvested seeds from a gerber daisy plant I
have. I noticed that not all of the seeds plumped out, so I'm assuming the
thin ones were not pollinated and should not be planted.

Here's my question: I read in Duncan's T & M seed starting database that I
should plant the seeds sharp side down, but on the surface, only partly
covered. However, when I look at the seed, both ends seem sharp. Is the
sharp end the one with the bit of fluff from the flower still attached, or
the other end, the one closest to the base of the flower? My temperature is
in the right range 70-75F.

If anyone has any other tips on seed propagation for gerbers, I'd sure
appreciate it. I've tried many times, never been successful (although I
think previous attempts failed because I did not surface sow.)

Many thanks,

Karen
