I propagate from seeds and cuttings many southern native plants, but
specialize in native azaleas and rhododendrons. I have introduced a
cultivar of Clethra alnifolia wih variegated leaves named Creel's
Calico, which also passes on variegation to selfed seedlings perhaps as
much as 50 percent of progeny.
I am seeking seeds of western rhododendron species, particularly Rh.
occidentale and albiflorum, and some advice on growing them. I tried
some occidentale seed last spring under lights over sphagnum moss with
great germination, but most have failed to thrive outside.
