Hi Nan...
I'll use the analogy of peas in a pod. Remove the pod and plant the pea.
Some pods can be somewhat fleshy, like clivia, but what you want is the
round, firm seeds inside. Those of clivia are quite large (relatively),
while those of the ammocharis I germinated were barely 1/8 inch in diameter.
