Botritis.  AKA 'Gray Mold'.  Runs rampant below 50 degrees.  50 is
truely the cut-off point, I've found.
Here's a good way to grow seedlings without heating the space.....
Go the an electrical WHOLESALER and order the heating cables that they
use on the East Coast to melt the ice from roofs and out of gutters.  I
ordered mine for my greenhouse gutters so the ice doesn't obstruct the
gutters.  I got 2 lengths of it, each was 100 feet long, with a grounded
wall plug in on the end.  I paid ABOUT $50 each.
Lay this out on your benches and put the flats on top of them.  This
heats the soil, but not the room.  The soil will be about 70 degrees or
so.  It works very well, but beware of seed that requires cool temps. 
They won't germinate.
