According to J. Greenlee in The Encyclopedia of Ornamental Grasses, seed
progeny is variable. Division in the spring is best.
This book was reccommended to my by the president of the Oregon Bamboo
Association, who I would consider an authority on monocots. Said it
was one of the best books there is on grasses.
