division.....treat it as any other perennial. dig up around the mother
plant, transplant new divisions, be sure to cut the tops down to about 4
inches. the new plants should emrge in the spring. there are 2 kinds of
bamboo. clump forms, and spreading forms, these are very , very,
invasive.......either plant in an area where you can allow it to grow or
use measures to keep it under control. most varieties are for zones 6,7-10.
there are short and tall varieties. country living gardener (October) has a
great article on bamboo. good luck, chris........
