Dear Dirk,
You probably read so many different methods for storage because these are
fairly easy to store. I dig them after the foliage is frost killed. Wash off
the garden soil and allow them to dry a bit on screens in my basement then
package them in dry peat moss and leave them there until spring. The whole
thing is stored in a old peat moss back under the stairs in my kitchen. No
fuss. Easy. The only problems I ever had were mice that got in one year and
did a little chewing. Didn't kill anything though.
I use the same method for Dahlia tubers.
