RE EUCALYPTUS PROPAGATION

MICHAEL WILTON and anyone interested,
I've visited a very large nursery (maybe with 2 million seedlings) where
the process to propagate is through cuttings (actually they got shooting
from a 20 ha area where the eucalyptus grandis underwent their first
cut, and each plant then yields 50 shootings). The process start early
in the morning, and in the cutting (2 or 3mm in diameter) is left three
pairs of leaves that are trimmed in its middle, then they use powder
rooting hormone. Thereafter the cuttings are placed in the proper medium
in large trays in greenhouse like installations. The plants are watered
three times a day. The percent of success is high: 85%.
