This is my first time on this site. I have also been lurking in the
back ground and enjoying it immensely. My name is Stephen Belcher,
a professional gardener. It's my job , business, hobby and passion.
I may be crazy.
I have been growing ginseng for several years now. This is the
first time I've gotten seeds. I also saved ten plants from a
development site recently and they also had seeds. Having read all
I have found on ginseng propagation I have the following questions.
I keep reading seeds take several years to sprout. My
understanding is if planted while still red and fleshy they will
sprout the first year. When I got started I had dried seeds and they
did take several years to sprout. Does any one have experience in
this area.
Next I read that root cuttings can be taken but I'm scared to
death to try. Each root only has a single shoot on it. If I cut
part of the root off I don't want to take a chance on loosing both.
I'll appreciate any info.
Thanks,
Stephen
