I grew a batch of these just last year. I removed the pulp, which
requires some soaking, and planted the clean seed in a flat. I left them
in a warm place for a week and then refrigerated them for a month at
about 40 degrees F. I then brought them into the greenhouse and in a few
weeks they began to germinate. I got nearly 100% germination and grew
the small, single leaflet plants until July when they finally went
dormant. After they went dormant, I again placed them, flat and all into
the refrigerator for about 6 weeks.
Three weeks ago I sifted the small tubers, and although they were soft,
they seemed to be ok. There were 34 of them, all from a single
inflorescence. Some were as large as a large pea.
I replanted these in a seedling mix, in individual cell packs and they
are currently doing quite well. Every one of them has come up, each with
the characteristic three leaflets. I expect to grow these for a few
months and then allow them to go dormant again. When I finally plant
these out next spring, I hope that they will be pretty good sized
plants.
