Re: mites and CO2 geoff reples
I am afraid I have to disagree with Geoff. In my days in a genetics
lab, we anesthetized many drosophila (vinegar flies) with ether.
We do not use ether with honey bees because it is reported to have
undesirable effects. We use CO2 and keep queen bees anesthetized for
several minutes. I once forgot and left some queen bees in CO2 for
probably over an hour and they survived with no visible effects.
Therefore, I wonder if it will really be lethal to mites.
