Hi shrub-buyers,
 
Here's a link to the Minneapolis newspaper website that has a short video about how to choose healthy shrubs.  It's short and basic, but it's by Nancy Rose, co-author of the new book  Growing Small Shrubs and Trees in Cold Climates.  She talks about (and demonstrates) what to do if you do buy a pot-bound shrub. 
 
Also, there is a list of shrubs to fit different conditions in our northern climate and shrubs with different attributes.
