Question about Chaenomeles

Hello. I would be curious to hear from those of you who are familiar with
Flowering Quince (genus Chaenomeles) and regular Quince (genus Cydonia). I
have occasionally seen a quince-like fruit on a Chaenomeles and am
wondering how close this is to a "real" quince fruit; that is, can it
substitute for the fruit of the Cydonia in terms of both quality and
quantity? Do some Chaenomeles produce heavy crops? Do some produce none?
Also, does the Cydonia possess some of the same qualities, e.g.,
attractive flowers?

I am wondering which to plant. I don't think I want both. Thanks for any
info.
