Re: Question about Chaenomeles

At the time they declared ch. 11, they said it wouldn't affect their seed
company. I wondered about Heronswood, but hear it appears as if nothing
has changed there. The finger seemed to point to Burpee's newly-opened
retail stores when they declared bankruptcy, and now they're trying to sell
plants. Hardly a day goes by but what I get an ad for their plants. I did
buy some Burpee seeds, and had very disappointing germination. I heard a
former employee bought Stark Bros. after bankruptcy, and reopened the
business. Well, I just looked for a website. Starkbrothers.com is up for
sale, Stark (i tried that name with great fear and trepidation) is a
consulting firm, then I ran a search for Stark Bros. Nursery, and they say
they're almost ready to take orders online. Terrible times for that
company, it was to be auctioned off on Sept. 11, 2001. Margaret L
