Hi Carmel:
I don't think it affects the pH of the soil, unless the potassium is in some
sort of acid or basic conpound. On the bags I get there is no indication of
the active ingredient.
I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast and we kids would wade out to where the
depth of the water was about one foot. We would dig in the sand and find these
little clam-like animals. I would guess that something is probably living in
the green sand off the coast of New Jersey. I also would be interested in an
answer to your questions.
