Richard,
When you say add coarse organic material, what do you mean? What kind of
organic material and how do I add it? I just put about 1" of compost on
top of the soil (didn't mix it in at all) and I have mulched it with cedar
bark. It actually is not standing in water, at least when I was out there
the ground was moist but not wet in any way.
