I just pulled up some patio stones to plant around the edge of my patio.
Predictably, there's gravel underneath. It's very fine gravel, is mixed up
with the heavy clay around here, FULL of worms and pretty wet. I have some
hostas and ferns to go in there. I am wondering what to amend the soil with.
I have some matted, soggy leaves, some partially composted leaves/kitchen
junk or I could go and buy some manure (which I don't mind doing if that
would give my new plants the best start) ... what would you geniuses suggest?
