Flower Factory

Just had to say that the Flower Factory nursery south of Madison WI
was a wonderful place to spend our wedding anniversary last Saturday. A
beautiful day, splendid demonstration gardens, an incredible selection of
perennials, friendly staff, plants in excellent health. No wonder we left
with seven flats of plants and a nice trough!
Got some great rock garden plants (androsace, erigeron, arabis,
draba, dianthus, iberis, and more--really choice), some unusual ferns
(including a giant painted fern!), shade plants with great foliage
(pulmonaria, heuchera, heucherella), dwarf hostas (thanks for suggestions
from list members), and lots of terrific finds (like a great variegated
salvia and a trailing plant with true blue flowers that doesn't mind dry
soil--buglossoides, the perennial of the year 2000 in Germany).
It's a good thing I don't actually live in Wisconsin and that they
don't do mail order or my budget would never recover...
