How deep for Ajuga barrier??

Hello - I am planting a new huge garden bed 7' by 60'.

In the bed their will be individual scrubs, surrounded by a round plastic
edging. Inside the edging  there will be landscape cloth, then on top of
that, cypress mulch.

The rest of the bed I am going to plant Ajuga Raptains as a groundcover.

QUESTION = What should be the minimum depth I can have to form a barrier so
that the Ajuga won't spread into the individual scrub areas, or outside the
huge plant bed area?
