Hello Susan,
    Look for the species A. "chinensis" or hybrids with this one in the lineage.
You can always tell a chinensis. They look a bit like my mother's old bedspread
with all the fuzzy, rounded blooms. Probably one of the oldest out there is A. c.
'Pumila'. With good reason for that one is a good performer, very dependable. Best
one for our hot and dry summers just as they come into bloom. Blooms come in at
about 10 to 12", lilac-rose. July-August bloom period. Groundcover habit.
"Visions" is another favorite of mine for the raspberry-red fuzzy blooms at about
12 to 15".
