Plant id?

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone could i.d. a plant I bought several months ago at
a really nice nursery outside NYC. It was placed in a greenhouse near a
peace lily--thus, in great darkness--and the woman who sold it to me warned
against putting it in a lot of light. When I bought it, it had yellow
corrugated leaves (like a pilea), oval, about 1 1/2 inches long, with red
markings on the center. I've always assumed it was in the mint family
because the leaves, when crushed, smell a bit like mint and because the
stems are square. I put the plants outside--three in a narrow terra cotta
window box-like container--and they grew quickly, but turned chartreuse.
Now I have them back inside, and am hoping the leaves will grow yellow
again. Problem is--I'm really not sure this is a plant that can stand to
stay warm all winter.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Nancy Stedman
