Sorry; I didn't express myself clearly!  I was not talking about foliar
nematodes:  its the beneficial nematodes that don"t overwinter>

Sheila,

 Nematodes do over winter where you are. The growing season is shorter where
you are so they don't show up as much but they are still there and are
spread when hostas are divided.
