[SG] Dry Shade

Thanks for the welcome, Sherryl.

I came across this list when I was tearing my hair out trying to figure
out what to put in "that spot" (everyone has one, don't you?) where
nothing really does well. I am looking for something about 3 feet tall,
more or less, that will grow in a dry spot under an overhang. It gets
about 4 hours of morning sun in summer, full sun in winter. Most of the
things I've tried there survive (I do water it, but not enough to make
the moist-soil shade lovers really happy) but I haven't been pleased with
it so far. The best try was an English rose (Graham Thomas) because it
was tall enough to reach for the sun, but it was really too big for the
site and now that I just lost it to disease I'm back to square one.
Any advice would be appreciated.
