The montana forms and varieties are hopelessly confused, I think. Many people
still aver that King Michael is unique;some, that praeflorens is unique. I
have one purchased as 'Krossa B-3' and it IS unique.
At any rate, I am somewhat confused by the term "plain montana," Bobbie. Are
you referring to the species, H. montana? The species is quite different in
appearance from f. macrophylla and is not as large, in leaf size or in height.
I have images of both on file as jpeg. files if anyone would care to see them.
