Hi Gene & All,
I'd really like to see your garden, Gene. Sounds GREAT! You are doing
something I wish I would do---plant a lot of things besides hostas for all-
season interest.
I am starting fall planting of sorts. Extending a border in my front garden
that looked rather incomplete. The area gets a healthy dose of morning sun. I
had to get rid of grass, so I used my lazy method=dumped a lot of 12-12-12 on
the grass and watered. Then we had rain to boot. Grass will be dead by
Thursday. Then comes the raised border.
With your advice, I shall plant, besides hostas, some anenomes, and aconitums.
I don't want it to be too showy since it is sorta in the front yard--off to
the south side.
I don't think exotics would look nice here, but I have GOT to plan for at
least one ginger. The other plantings will be some smallish, shade-tolerant
grasses and sedges and one luzula.
My other fall planting is very mundane---lawn grass seeds.
Keep us posted, Gene.

P.S. Does anyone plant the so-called perennial tulips? Are they really
perennial?
