Clyde, Hostas are exotics. They are from Japan among other places.
Certainly not from anywhere in the US. Help me out here, Clyde. I am
honestly not trying to be smart.. just trying to figure out what you are up
 to in your garden. >>

OOOPS! Sorry Gene--I meant "tropicals" instead of "exotics."

I am fascinated with the tropicals. I like to incorporate them in my
garden---which, for me, includes, my patio.
What I am up to? Heavens ! I dont know! <G> I AM taking out quite a few of my
hosta collection and replacing them with other hardy perennials. I used to be
an inveterate collector of hostas, but now realize that one must be a bit
ruthless. So, I am getting rid of plantaginea, Tallboy, Jolly Green Giant, all
but one clump of 'Fort. Albopicta', 'Fountain', 'Birchwood Green', most of the
Lancifolia, clausa normalis, Honeybells, Decorata Normalis, all but one FW,
most of sieboldiana Elegans, and most of the fortuneis that are all green. I
am also tossing 'Sea Gold Star', 'Sea Yellow Sunrise',
'Ellerbroek', most of 'August Moon', 'Birchwood Parkys Gold' , 'Sea Waves',
'Lunar Eclipse', all but one Fortunei Aureomarginata, Brim Cup, Knockout, Gold
Drop, Golden Prayers, Gold Pan, Harvest Glow, pachyscapa, a lot of so-called
montanas, sieboldiana 'Robusta', 'Moreheim' and Ada Reed. (I forget the others
but it is quite a list.) I shall replace these with other perennials.
So that is what I am up to.

Is this a good time to plant the woodland anenomes?
Thanks for your interest and post.
