Re: [SG] Need some advise

You can't do better than start with hostas and ferns! You can get a
beautiful low-maintenance effect with these plants. I'd advise planting
the plain green hostas and the green and whites, as they need minimal sun.
You will have to remove the weeds and amend the soil to start with, but I
find that my hosta gardens require much less weeding than the other
gardens in our yard. Don't plant the huge hostas; they will need more
space than your 3-foot-wide bed can provide. And they need not be fancy
hostas, either. Probably you have neighbors or gardening friends who can
give you plenty to start you off. If you want a few special ones, 'Night
Before Christmas', 'Whirlwind', and 'Formal Attire' are nice. Also
'Patriot', 'Regal Splendor', 'Pineapple Poll', 'Leather Sheen' come to
mind. There are lots to choose from, even sticking with a green and white
color scheme.
