We sure could use a litlle rain magic around here to get the heat down.
Fri. we had a near record 106 degrees (don't know what the heat index was
for that day.) In the middle of the day, the transformer blew, leaving
everyone on our block without electric (and no AC or fans) until after
midnight. Yesterday, it was a little cooler, hovering around 98 I think,
but humid. Today it looks like rain, but its not predicted. Very hot
still but under 90 degrees.
I have spent the weekend watering like mad. I dug down, and it was dry
at least 6 inches, and I had spent all last weekend watering too! I was
surprised that it could be that dry, given all the water that I had
given. So far, nothing has been lost, I don't think. But I did notice
that several things had gone into dormacy: Soloman's Seal (except for my
new one, Gene), Jack in the pulpit leaves, but not the green berries,
Mayapple.
Hope others are faring okay

Addendum: As I sat here writing the heavens opened up and we're getting
over 20 drops! Its pouring! Hope it keeps up for an hour at least!
