Fall color

Hi. I was wondering if there is any good guide to fall color in trees,
shrubs and perennials that lists not only what color happens but when it
happens. I've planted things to go together in the fall only to discover
that they turn a month apart! Right now I'm thinking of planting Amsonia
hubrectii near a Japanese maple but I have no idea if the colors will change
around the same time or not. Also, are there plants that hold turned leaves
for a long time? The only one I know of is Itea, which I always hate for
months then fall in love with again in autumn. How about the oak-leaved
hydrangeas?
