Re: Flower Color

In my gardens, on the line of zones 4-5, the hosta flower colors are normal.
We had a very wet spring and early summer, which no doubt helped, but it was
followed by two weeks (just ended) of sizzling temperatures around 100
degrees F. I watered deeply every other day during this torrid, dry heat
wave. While colors are normal, the hosta that bloom in late August and
September are either in bloom or producing buds that will break soon. A few
hosta suffered sun-scorched foliage, but not badly, during the hot spell.
The large tree that provided shade was lost in a storm, so most of the hosta
now receive afternoon sun. I compensate by watering more frequently.
