Claire, I planted one 'Chameleon' plant in the fall of
1997 (Zone 4a Minnesota). It survived the winter well
and I divided it in the spring. In the fall, I divided
those plants to get about 8 more for new gardens. This
spring, I left all the seedlings around my original
plant, hoping that they were more Chameleons. They
were! I now have dozens more 1-3 stemmed seedlings. I
like to use them, the dark heucheras, dark sedum, and
the burgundy colored barberry bushes to add dark color
to my borders...especially next to gold hostas and
green/gold perennials. Good luck with your
'Chameleon.'
