Re: hydrangea question


My guess would be lack of water.  Gully washers tend to roll right off the
top of the soil and penetrate little, esp. if the soil is brick hard and
dry  - this even if the soil has been mulched.  Had one the other day and
scraped back the mulch around some rose bushes and the soil was dry as dust
- and I've watered these suckers, too!  Would suggest your new house owners
put a leaky hose around the plant and let it run until the soil is moist
over 6' down....they will need to do some probing to make sure.
