Re: deep shade evergreens


Diann, it's Nandina domestica 'Firepower'.  There's a not really

I'm not certain how it would do in z 5b.  Think it might be
deciduous, but if you have a bit of microclimate that is warmer and
protected, it would be worth trying.  The winters since I planted it
have all been relatively mild.  We shall see how it likes a cold one
this year!  Single digit lows are forecast according to the
weatherpersons...ecchhh!

I know they also have other cultivars with redder leaves out there,
too.  Same with Pieris; there are cultivars with really red new
growth.
