Re: hellebores was: Shade Garden Gone?

Thanks for the information, George.  I just took a quick look at your book
on Amazon.  Nice cover.  My husband ordered The American Horticultural
Society's Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers and I can hardly lift that
thing.  I haven't even looked inside it, for it's easier to just surf the
web for a specific question.

I'm pretty much a trial and error sort of gardener, not a scientist.  And
the grounds for this home are sort of skimpy.  No room for major projects.

So far, the hostas have proved very rewarding and I hope they will do as
well next year.  The jury's still out on the hellebores and I have no idea
what sort of growth pattern astilbes will have.  But they do look healthy
and ready to do great things in the spring.  Cross your fingers.
