Brian & Virginia:
Now you could send theChamaecyparis's to me as I can grow them in zone 6b.
You'll need some luck and the plants will need some protection; say south or
east side of the house, etc. From Adrian Bloom's conifer books:
Cham lawsonia 'Elwoodii' has blue/green featery foliage starting out as a
neat little bun and eventually becoming a cone. 6-8 ft and eventually 20/30
ft
Cham lawsonia 'Summer Snow may be smilar to Snow White, tho I'm not sure.
Summer Snow has creamy white new growth and becomes 6/8 ft tall and narrow.
Cham pisifera 'Boulevard' is an oldie but goodie silvery blue foliage and
becoming 3-4 meters(you do the math). As far as I know, all Chamaecyparis
are listed as zone 6 northern hardy but I'd guess that they do ok in most
zone 5 climes. And if your recent winters are like ours, your probably
experiencing zone 6 type winters.......
