Re: Japanese maples


Hi Kay,
The nursery down the road here kinda specializes in jap maples.  They always
have a tremendous variety and the radio show on here weekends recommends them
for jap maples.

We are on the edge of 5-6 here.  I always consider it to be z 5 because of
the couple of winters that we have had that were nasty with temps in the -15 and
below for several days.  I am going to guess that it depends on what part of
z5 you are located in, and how much protection the plants will get.  I have
rarely seen anyone loose a fancy maple around here at least not from the
winters, be prepared to cover for late frosts and freezes though.
