[PRIMROSES] Garden Maps

Dear Fellow Robins,

This winter I want to get a better handle on tracking all my perennials. I
plan to remeasure my property and garden outlines (for the 2nd and 3rd time in
some places - I always seem to find discrepancies) with the help of my
husband (or whoever else I can get to hold onto one end of the tape measure).
Winter seems like the best time to have helpers tramp through the garden since
the soil is frozen.

Now I would like to hear from lots of you about:

How do you keep track of your plants - computer software (which ones),
sketches, scale drawings that you have to change endlessly, spread sheets
(what info do you include? how do you handle multiples of the same plant,
locations of said plants, etc), do you just label the plants in the garden and
hope the dog doesn't chew them up?

Has this already been covered ad nauseum? (is this the correct spelling? I
didn't know where to look it up (I was lazy too))

Thanks,
