[PRIMROSES] New Member Introduction

Hello to all primrose listers!

My name is Barbara Jackson and I garden in southern Manitoba, zone 3.
Primroses are new to me and from what I've been able to gather in surfing
the web, most varieties are hardy only to zone 4. Would it be pushing it to
try to grow them as perennials in zone 3? They are all so pretty!

My gardening activities began about 20 years ago and for most of the
intervening years, I concentrated on vegetables. About 5 years ago I
discovered the joys of perennials and since then most of my smallish city
lot has been dug up to provide more room for the ever expanding flower beds.
The SO/NGP doesn't seem to mind 'cause it's less grass for him to mow. :)
My main areas of interest include day lilies, iris and lilies. Last year I
branched out and included peonies and hostas. I think I would classify
myself as a "collector". I have to have about one of everything, at least.

I am hoping to learn more about primroses and with any luck, maybe even get
them to grow for me. Are there any varieties anyone can think of that might
survive a Canadian prairie winter?

Glad to meet you all!

Barb
