Gene, I've been meaning to mention this for weeks and this
groundcover discussion has reminded me. I finally saw Mazus
reptans in the wild during a walk up to the beaver ponds by
my house this past autumn. It was quite a walk, frankly. The
banks of the still-running streams were dense with Lobelia
cardinalis and various water & shade-loving Iris, in the sunnier
spots were Asclepias. But that M. reptans really knocked me
out. I know you've been telling me for ages how wonderful it
is. So now I believe you. It was running around and in front
of several species of ferns and mosses, the shiny green leaves
contrasted beautifully. Gorgeous! 'twill be replicated here as
soon as the shady areas are expanded.
