Re: Shady edibles?

Kevin, you don't tell us where you are so it is hard to offer specific advice.

We grow some hardy greens here after the leaves are off the trees. In Zone
7, spinach, some lettuces, kale and Brussels sprouts are among the hardy
vegetables. However, they are not shadelovers, but thrive in the winter
when most of the leaves are down. They could not be grown in their present
places in the summer because of shade.

Nearly all vegetable plants are sun-adapted. If your friends expect to do
any significant food-producing, they're going to have to find some sun.
You can't fight Mother Nature. Well, you can, but you can't win.
