    The Japanese painted Fern is listed as zones 4 through 8 in hardiness. If you
have an reservations, make sure it gets a good mulch and some stones to be among
if possible. You may be better of there than here. It tries to come up with our
first warming around here and often gets hit by late frost. While cold hardy, it
is frost sensitive. Does not kill the fern, but does set it back a bit. Has to
start over some springs.
    All that snow is wonder for plants. Holds them at a constant and consistent
temp.
