Okay, just so I am clear....... Even though the 'show' was in 5b, u still
feel the Japanese Fern would survive in zone 5?? When i first started
gardening here, all of the zone maps put my area at zone 5 so i was getting
plants based on that and anything rated to zone 5 kept dying -- was talking
to one of the nursery owners and he asked which town i was in, he said that
area due to the mountains and far enough in land, was zone 4--- since then i
haven't bought anything above zone 4 and have had better luck, i have both
sun and shade so am lucky in that....... have tried 4 hydrangeas from 4
different local nurseries and none survived

the sun garden is pretty much set and am working on the shade garden

all of u made the Japanese Fern so interesting, thought i would give it try
{that is when all this snow melts, 3 more inches last night-- another storm
coming on Monday}
