<I think you must treat this plant as biennial or even as an annual.
Other sylvestris types bloom the first season and almost never return
here. You can collect the seed and keep some cool indoors as reseeding
does not usually happen here where is is very cold also. Malva
sylvestris is very easy to grow from seed.>
I agree with Claire. However, here in (usually) snowless Zone 4b, both
Malva sylvestris Mauritiana and Zebrina self sow totally reliably (too
reliably?) and have for about the past 7 years we have grown them.
