Tender or Hardy

Hi; I've grown the following plants that aren't supposed to grow outside
this far north:

Davidia involucrata (a tree)
Eucomis
Gladiolus nana
Asplenium scolopendrium
Phyllostachys nigra
Fuschia magellanica
Musa basjoo
Zantedeschia aethiopica
A certain Passion flower (I forget the species; it's the pale lavender one)
I am trialing an amorphophallus this winter

Some of these do not put on their best show up here, even thought they are
perfectly hardy. Others need special treatment to live over winter. It is
probably for these reasons that nurseries prefer not to advertise them as
hardy to zone 5 - they'll have fewer dissatisfied customers.
