I think "survive" is more like it than "thrive" - 6" from the ground
all in one swoop for an old plant is pretty drastic. I've got
rhodies 15 feet tall or more...somehow don't really think they'd like
going to 6". Agree with Ran, better way is to do it in stages - and
even then, I'm not sure about that 6" from the ground. Wouldn't have
the courage myself, unless I really didn't care a hoot about the
plant surviving...
