Primrose Seed and Cimicifuga

Thompson and Morgan has a wide selection of Primula seed.

I bought a Cimicifuga ramosa last year, and though I watered it well, it
dried up during the hottest part of summer.  It was in shade, and had done
just fine for about 2 and a half months.  Do they ever go dry-dormant?
