Silke,
My Daphnes are in in a semi-shaded border with hostas, ferns, Pulmonarias,
lace-cap Hydrangeas and native azaleas. It's like a woodland edge, gets
morning sun only. I don't know how the Daphnes will do in the long run, but
this year mine are solid with bloom. Yesterday the temps were in the low
70's with a good brisk breeze, and the air was humid as last night's rain
approached. The air was absolutely thick with scent...from the Daphnes and
even from the 'Arnold Promise' witchhazel. I had never noticed its scent
before, sort of like a rose.
